1. The Osirian Portal (Amasis, Ophidian & Hieracon) vs. Team F.I.S.T. (Icarus, Chuck Taylor & Johnny Gargano)

The Portal are once again a trio with the addition of the high-flying Hieracon and are looking to compete in the King of Trios in April but for now they get the pesky and dangerous F.I.S.T.. This match opened the show in fantastic fashion with this new set of trios in both team. Gargano clicks well in the FIST mold and Hieracon spices up the Portal’s already unique presentation so it’s a win/win situation.

2. Madison Eagles vs. Daizee Haze

Then long-time Shimmer Champion Madison Eagles makes her Chikara debut against veteran Daizee Haze. Honestly this never clicked with me and Daizee Haze at this time was seriously not being herself and the sudden anorexia figure worried me. In all fairness, there were good moments in this match up that deserve an honorable mention.

3. The Throwbacks (Dasher Hatfield & Sugar Dunkerton) vs. The Roughnecks (Grizzly Redwood & Brodie Lee)

Solid tag team match with good aggression by the Throwbacks. Hatfield and Dunkerton despite their characterizations are really good wrestlers that makes Chikara standout as a mixture of great wrestling and characterization.

4. Da Soul Touchaz (Marshe Rockett, Acid Jaz & Willie Richardson) vs. Die Brüderschaft des Kreuzes (Tursas, Lince Dorado, & Sara Del Rey)

There’s a lot of hatred between just about everyone with BDK. Soul Touchaz beef with them is that they took out their managers C-Red and Dymond so it’s personal, especially with big men Richardson & Tursas. The BDK  pairing was a bit random but clicked very well for the cause and having biased referee Derek Sabato officiating this contest can only intensify this feud even further.

5. Incoherence (Hallowicked & Frightmare) vs. The Batiri (Obariyon & Kodama)

This was only the beginning of a year long feud between the Batiri & Incoherence. This match by itself was very good on both teams part and you can see the amount of potential the Batiri possess. The interference involving of Ultramantis Black, Sinn Bodhi & Kobald just added more fire to this devious feud.
Grade: B-

6. Ultramantis Black vs. Sinn Bodhi

Story here goes that Black made a deal with Bodhi to train The Batiri in his battle with the BDK; However, Bodhi wanted the Eye of Tyr in return, which is now in possession of the BDK, and since Black never fulfilled his part deal he made his move and took the Batiri as his own to take down Black. With that out of the way, this match never really went into fruition because of the interference of Incoherence and the Batiri.

7. Eddie Kingston vs. El Generico

This was flat out awesome. They tore the house down with stiff kicks and suplexes that make you cringe. Generico is such a great sport and fits the Chikara mold so well that it’s quite amusing that he’s never been a regular. Kingston had been on a huge role as of late so this just added more fire to his fury.

8. Mike Quackenbush, Jigsaw & The Colony (Fire Ant & Soldier Ant) vs. Die Brüderschaft des Kreuzes (Claudio Castagnoli, Ares, Delirious, & Tim Donst)

This was a fantastic main event with Jigsaw & Donst getting the MVP honors here trying to get the victory so bad to prove their peers that they’re worthy enough to take a bigger role. Another great Atomicos match.
Grade: B

Final Thoughts:

After an effective season finale in December, Chikara was definitely on the right path with this season opener. BDK is still the main enemy in Chikara but this time around, the tecnicos have Campeones de Parejas and a new Director of Fun has been appointed in the form of Wink Vavasseur, thus depleting the BDK from all the power they had in Chikara and it’s now a survival of the fittest.

Verdict: 8/10
