1. MVP vs. Jeff Hardy

SmackDown! quality match with high risk moves from Hardy. Fun Opener.
Grade: C

2. WWE Intercontinental & Women’s Championships
Kofi Kingston & Mickie James (c) vs. Santino Marella & Beth Phoenix

Mixed tag match where both titles are on the line with the team victorious takes both titles. Nothing to see here except for Santino & Beth’s weird love angle.
Grade: D-

Shawn Michaels Announcment: Shawn Michaels brings his wife to the ring and addresses the crowd regarding his situation in the WWE. Y2J crashes the party and physically makes a statement.

3. ECW Championship
Mark Henry (c) w/Tony Atlas vs. Matt Hardy

26 seconds….
Grade: DUD

4. World Heavyweight Championship
CM Punk (c) vs. John Bradshaw Layfield

Punk as a babyface usually is a slow starter but eventually it catches up and delivers an ok match. JBL was pretty good here as the big man and using brawn to take out the champion.
Grade: C+

5. WWE Championship
Triple H (c) vs. The Great Khali w/Ranjin Singh

Trips on the SmackDown! brand has to be the most awkward thing I’ve seen ever since the brand extension took place. Whatever the case, he’s the WWE Champion and is defending with pride. But not even a guy with the caliber and talent such as himself can’t pull a decent match with Khali. My best friend made me laugh cause he referenced this match was a modern day version of Ric Flair vs. El Gigante back in WCW early 1990’s.
Grade: D

6. John Cena vs. Batista

The modern day Hulk Hogan & Ultimate Warrior clash with one another. Both were the top babyfaces in their respective brands and also had their fair share of haters. It’s funny that in this match, they were both booed. It felt like Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XX where they were both booed with a passion. Whatever the case, they actually pulled of pretty good match. Despite their not so appealing reviews from the critics, they actually have good chemistry and this is due to their time in OVW.
Grade: B-

7. Hell in a Cell
Edge vs. The Undertaker

Every since they had their match at WrestleMania XXIV, Edge has been holding a grudge with Taker for ending his undefeated streak at Mania. Eventually they had a TLC match at One Night Stand and it saw Edge destroying the Undertaker sending him through two tables and as stipulated, The Deadman must leave the WWE. Edge & SmackDown! GM, Vickie Guerrero, were married but immediately their marriage went off to a rocky start. As their problems got worse, Guerrero announced the reinstatement of the Undertaker and he would face Edge in a Hell in a Cell. With that out of the way, they continued pretty much where they left off with tables, ladders, chairs and steel steps. They even went outside of the Cell and did some carnage at the announcers tables. Pretty good Cell match.
Grade: B

ECW Championship Match from 8/19/08
Mark Henry (c) w/ Tony Atlas vs. Matt Hardy – C

In conclusion, it was a pretty solid event that was saved by the main events. Both WWE & ECW championship matches failed to deliver and it hurt a bit. Things were starting to pick up for the WWE and once again like in 2005, the draft lottery changed the rosters dramatically and it refreshed the brands to a new start which is a good thing. At this time, the WWE changed it’s product to a PG audience due to the scandalous events a year prior.

Verdict: 7/10
